Our Story

It all started back in 2015, when fate (and Virginia Tech housing assignments) brought us both to Pritchard Hall. We met each other early on our freshman year and quickly became close friends. Ally also developed strong bonds with many of Chris' high school friends, which morphed into a tight knit friend group—one that would last through college and eventually produce a rather large bridal party.
Over the next few years at school, we grew incredibly close. Under the guise of “best friends”, Chris and Ally did everything together. We attended a record amount of date functions together for two single people, shared countless drinks at Sharkey's, and always seemed to end up next to each other in the bleachers at Hokie games. But throughout it all, Ally kept Chris at arm's length, albeit his continuous efforts. Chris was playing the long game; “trust the process”, he would always say.

However, that all changed after a memorable spring break down in Key West our junior year. The sunshine mixed with a few Fat Tuesday slushies was the perfect recipe, and we finally decided to give the relationship thing a try.

There was no looking back after that. Ally and Chris knew almost immediately that this was end game for them. We enjoyed a fantastic first summer as an official couple (but third summer as best friends) and an amazing senior year together despite Covid hitting us as graduation neared. Lucky for us, our group of friends quarantined in Blacksburg, so we made the most of our final weeks.

After our covid graduation, Ally was straight to work with her Bio-Engineering degree back home in Maryland. Chris enjoyed his summer poolside in Richmond before getting a job that would send him up to Northern Virginia where he would live with his college buddies in Arlington, just a short drive from Ally's home in Gaithersburg.

The next three years were a blast as we enjoyed the Arlington and DC nightlife. We developed a healthy work-life balance, with an emphasis on "life".

In 2023, we decided to skip over the "renting together" phase and moved in together for the first time when we bought a beautiful townhome in Mclean.

A year after that in the summer of 2024, a little over 5 years since we began dating, Ally's patience was running thin and on August 15th, Chris proposed on the rooftop of the Watergate hotel in DC. Surprising Ally with her dream diamond ring that he had purchased in total secret 5 months earlier.

Chris followed that up with a surprise engagement party that was quite a night to remember. Planning a party for Ally (who is always the type-A planner for everything) was a challenge, but well worth it to see the look on her face when she walked in to see a rooftop full of close family and friends!
Now here we are, ready for the next chapter and so excited to celebrate with all of you. Thanks for being part of our story!
